~ Safety Harbor Elementary, PTA Newsletter, December 8 - 12 ~ Hello everyone! Welcome back J It's hard to believe that November has come and gone! We are already into the second week of December and we have so many exciting upcoming school events ~ It's going to be a winter whirlwind of fun…. We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast. Speaking of feasts, our Teacher's Appreciation Luncheon held before the Thanksgiving Holidays was a yummy treat! Thanks to Diana Soulliere and to all the volunteers who contributed to making this annual luncheon a delectable event. Yum. Kung-Fu Panda PTA Movie Night was a blast. We had about one hundred people attend, and we enjoyed popcorn, drinks and cookies and a great "Bully Prevention" presentation. It was a great way to say "Thank You" for being a PTA member. Erin Boyd did a great job! Thanks to Erin and to Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Arts. We've already ushered in the first week of December with a wonderful book fair. I hope everyone raked-it-in with some great holiday gifts! Thanks to Jeannie Zier for running the fair, and to all the PTA volunteers who graciously donated their time helping with this fair. HOLIDAY HAPPINESS at Safety Harbor: Safety Harbor Elementary School is gathering gifts this season to distribute to our children who are in need here at our own SHES. In the hallway of the main building, we have a "HOLIDAY HAPPINESS" wall with student gift "Wishes" written on tags. If you'd like to make a child's wish come true, please take a tag, (which will have information such as age, gender, favorite colors, and their holiday wish). When you are out Holiday shopping, purchase the present and help our children have a happy holiday! You can deliver your wrapped present, with the wish-tag taped to the package, to the Guidance Counselor's office located in the main building. "Escape School" Program December 9th - Tuesday evening at 6:30: The Escape School Program is a wonderful program that is great for all ages. Children and parents should not miss this amazing and fun program that teaches us how to stay safe in a not-so-safe world. Your children will be educated on how to avoid, deter and get away from a predator if they were abducted. It is a very kid-friendly program that you do not want to miss. Prize Giveaways and McDonalds Night - December 18th - 5:30-7:30: We are going to have a lot of fun prize giveaways this December on McDonalds Night. There will be giveaways of SHES t-shirts, McDonalds food and promotional items, and McDonalds gift cards. Come one, come all, and help us raise money for our school. PTA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM ENTRIES ON THEIR WAY TO THE COUNTY: Thirty-three of our amazing students entered the PTA Reflections Program! Thanks so much for participating in this National event. Awards and prizes were distributed before the holidays. All entrants received a prize goody-bag and our Safety Harbor Elementary School winners received a $10 dollar Book Fair gift certificate. Chosen SHES winning entries are now off to the county to be judged. Good Luck! Thank you Catherine House and Molly Howard for organizing this event and encouraging our talented students to "show their stuff". Great job! Classroom Sponsorship / Adopt-A-Classroom at Safety Harbor Elementary: A classroom sponsorship enables our school to provide our students with the materials needed for their educational reinforcement and special activities. One hundred percent of your $180.00 contribution goes directly to the classroom. As a Classroom Sponsor, you will have the opportunity to correspond with your classroom and to touch the lives of many students. You will receive letters, pictures and invites to school functions from your adopted class. Being a classroom sponsor is a wonderful way to contribute to your local community.
