Dear Parents and Students,
We're delighted to welcome you to Safety Harbor
Elementary for the 2008-2009 school year. lf you are
returning to us, "Welcome Home!" lf you are new to
S.H.E.S., we will do our best to make you feel at
home.
We are very proud that our 3'0, 4tn, and 5th grade
students earned an "A" on the FCAT testing for the
second year in a row!
All students will be bringing home a lot of
important information, along with some forms which
need to be completed and returned as soon as
possible. Please take the time to read the
Parent/Student Handbook, which contains very
valuable information you will use daily. A Pinellas
County Schools Media Release Form is included. All
parents of new Kindergarten students and students
without a current release on file are encouraged to
read, sign, and return the release form as soon as
possible. Another important item in the first day
packet is the PTA membership. Safety Harbor
Elementary has a wonderful PTA - We hope you will
complete the membership form and send it in right
away! Student Planners are available in your child's
classroom. To purchase the planner, please send in
$5.00. lf you will be sending a check, it should be
made out to "Safety Harbor Elementary PTA". lf you
are sending cash, please be aware that the teacher
will not be able to give you change.
One of the ways we will be communicating with you
again this year is the Connect Ed. Program.
Periodically, and particularly in the case of an
emergency, you will receive a telephone call from
the school. Please be sure to let us know
immediately if you change your phone number, so that
you won't miss our calls.
We love to have you join your child for lunch in our
Cafeteria, or at the Picnic table area. lf you
plan to eat with your child at the picnic tables,
and would like to include another student (one only,
please), we ask that you have written permission
from that student's parent. Also, if you are
planning to send in a treat for the class, to
celebrate a birthday, etc., please speak to the
teacher first, and remember that the snack should be
a healthy one.
Safety is important to us. All school gates will be
locked at 8:454.M. lf your child is late, you must
bring him/her to the office for a tardy slip. Please
remember that you must sign in FIRST at the front
office each time you are on campus.
Student Hours will remain 8:40am-2:40pm, with the
first bell at 8:30am.
We are looking forward to a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Robert Kalach, Principal
